if by hybrid power you mean using more than one form of alternative sources of energy to supply power to the data center, the answer is yes and no. it is entirely based on what types of hybrid power you choose to use, the capacity of the data center and also the floor space available. the most popular combination is the solar cell and fuel cell; while it can get the data center off the grid, 100% uptime is not guaranteed. you have to rely on the power grid for backup purposes atleast.
Thank you guys for the responses. Solar energy maybe feasible for lighting and fuel cells for the back up batteries but are there any actual data centers running on say wind energy or geo-thermal energy? Are they practical considering smaller data centers more involved with storage?
