We are going to be redesigning the physical security for our DC and I was looking for info on vendors/brands of biometric access systems and IP camera systems that you folks have experience with. Links are helpful.
How do you handle biometric access for vendors (such as technicians from your LECs, etc.)? I can't make biometric profiles for every phone tech in the area, but I don't want to make exceptions to a documented security process.
Zitibake,
As a general practice that I follow, I do not let technicians or vendors in my facilities without an escort. The risk of having these personnel roaming around your datacenter unattened outweighs the 30 minutes of having on-site personnel escort these technicians/vendors.
If you still wanted to risk having the technicians/vendors in, I would strongly recommend looking in to remotely accessible relays for your door locking mechanisms so you can open the doors from a security booth.
I have been working with a company called Anixter for years now and they have an IP based camera solution which I am looking at purchasing. It is pretty nice and budled in to one solution. We will most likely also utilize the addition of a DVR to the IP based system for recording and backup the DVR for data retention.
