factors for choosing a router

what are the factors one has to keep in mind while buying a router for a data center apart from the cost, of course? do you have to consider bandwidth allocation?or the number of equipments connected to the router?

I am assuming you are looking for specification for router for office use. For this case there are few critical feature which one should be looking for when deciding for new router.

1 What is role router is going to perform?
2 What type of interfaces are needed?
3 What what is the routing protocol to be used?
4 total number of routes to be handled by router?
5 Minimum RAM and storage needed?
6 Future growth?
7 Is it main office or branch office?

You want to figure out how strong of a signal you want. You want just enough for your personal needs, and not any extra! The more signal you have, the more people are going to try to tap into it!
